Maligne Valley Wildlife and Waterfalls Tour
This new, half day experience will depart from Jasper twice daily
and explore a section of Jasper National Park known for it's abundant
wildlife. Our naturalist guides will highlight the unique features
of the valley while passengers watch for bear, moose, elk, wolves,
big horn sheep, eagles and even the odd marmot! A stop at Maligne
Canyon features a short walk around the upper reaches, offering
spectacular views of waterfalls & hidden fossils, viewed from
the footbridges spanning the deepest sections of the gorge. This
leisurely walk allows plenty of time for photos and nature interpretation.
Continuing up the Valley we arrive at the 'disappearing' Medicine
Lake, with the amazing geology that has created the Karst Topographical
phenomenon, causing the lake to completely drain every year.
Our final destination and the highlight of the tour, world famous
Maligne Lake features a
90 minute cruise to Spirit
Island, known as the icon of the Canadian Rockies! Passengers
have the choice of joining the cruise or accompanying our guide
on an easy 3.2 km lakeside hike. Time is allotted for passengers
to purchase lunch or snacks at the View Restaurant, which offers
a wide array of homemade soups, stews, chili, sandwiches, salads
and a variety of baked goods and beverages.
